Awesome-Tasting Food!! // cinnamon coffee cake

I haven't been around in awhile and it is time to give you another recipe.  For some reason coffee cake has sound really good of late so this is what the recipe will be on.  I know I did a recipe on  Pancakes last time, but hey, who doesn't like breakfast food? And who said you had to have it for breakfast?

Cinnamon Coffee Cake Loaf

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, and salt. In another large bowl, combine the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour half of the batter into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan. In a small bowl, combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon; stir in butter. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture; cut through batter with a knife to swirl the topping. Repeat. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.  Makes one loaf.

Now go fix a glass of milk (or coffee) and enjoy your coffee cake.

february: twenty-twelve crafts

The results are in of February's craft and you get to tell me what you think.  For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I made a list of 12 crafts/foods/etc I wanted to try in 2012. These are all new-to-me projects that I wanted to try anyway. I thought I'd make it more interesting by posting about each one as I go.  If you'd like to see the entire list click here.

January's craft was fun, easy, and fast. But while this cute little notebook was fun and easy, it took longer than I had planned.

It was totally worth making and I had a blast!! I haven't written on the tabs yet because I haven't decided what I'm going to write in it.Any suggestions?

This is the front and back. Pretty sweet, right?  Shall we take a peek inside?

One of the many cute embellishments.

The opposite page with a matching spiral.

See the little things in the left corner? Here, let's get a closer look.

Yep, they're pretty cute little clip-on metal pieces. I about chopped them off when I was trimming  the page. I forgot I already put them on. oops!

The best page...COFFEE BEANS!! :)  Couldn't resist adding that paper. Picking out the paper for this was so hard! I had way to many choices.

And here is the back again.

Now get to see some of my interesting handwriting. :)

So, what is your verdict? Is this one a keeper? I think so. Now I need to make one for my Mom.

If you liked this project why then why don't you make one. Simply Vintagegirl has an awesome tutorial on how to make this notebook.
