Valentine's Banquet

Every year my church does a Valentine's Banquet for the married couples. I thought you all might find it interesting to see.

All the young people in the church get to help pull the banquet off. It is super fun and there are cool people to work with.

 One of our projects included making table numbers. Let me rephrase that, they were FANCY table numbers...

...that took a long time to make. But they did look pretty.

Many, many teacups

The banquet style (or you could say theme) was fancy and vintage-ish. Having to come up with decorations at the last minute made for some interesting decorating.

A lot of cooking and baking was going on as you can imagine. 

The shortbread was amazing!! I don't really remember having shortbread before.

Part of our lunch. Probably the biggest order TacoBell has had in a long time. 

The fun begins when the banquet starts. Us young people get to work as waitresses, clear the tables, or put food on plates, etc.  My favorite job is arranging food on the plates. Sadly, I don't have a photo of what most of it looked like.

Very pretty. Actually, I would just skip the cake and go for the freshly made whipped cream!! That stuff was great!!

Taking group photos, except not everyone made it. Everyone was great this year and I had blast!

top five...

I had a really awesome week and thought I'd share my top 5 favorites.

1. Kansas beat K-state on Monday. It was a really fun game to watch. Normally, I like k-state too, but when both teams play each other I'm KU all the way!!
Some of us went over to my Grandma and Grandpa's house to watch the game with them. My Grandma felt bad that none of us were cheering for k-state, so she decided she would. I think she really just likes their colors.  :)

2. Our church Valentine's Banquet last Friday.  More on that later...hopefully. :)  But I will say that it was a ton of fun!!

3. Watching my niece, Yoanna, on Skype. She has really changed since I saw her last. This is an interesting photo, but I thought she looked cute laughing.

4. I had an great flute lesson on Thursday. My teacher is really, really good.

5. And I have been enjoying my new keychain, which actually works really well. I was kinda surprised I liked it. Here is the post about it.

church christmas banquet

A couple of weeks ago our church had the annual Christmas banquet. I love getting to help prepare for these banquets. Most of the youth in our church get together on that day to decorate and make the food.

We had an awesome meal which included brisket and everything that goes with it.

Thousands (literally) of awesome-tasting Pfeffernüsse  were made for a snack bar. It felt like we were chopping them up all evening. :)  But they taste was worth it!!

Someone was good enough to bring all of us Starbucks while we were at work. It was a greatly wanted (and needed) treat.

Sorry, but we didn't really take any photos during the banquet. You're going to have to be satisfied with the preparation part of it.
This is what the decorations on the table looked like. We mixed coffee beans with cranberries and then set a candle in the middle.

I thought these photos were very interesting. I didn't know this was going on outside until I looked at the camera that night. A guy was in charge of putting up a great, big, lit-up star on the roof. Meanwhile someone was having fun with the shadow effects from the sun.

The banquet turned our successfully, at least I thought so. Everyone who helped went home tired and happy.
