Awesome-Tasting Food!

Lemon Bread  is just heavenly! It makes my mouth water just typing it out. But that might be because of my love for lemon. I have loved lemons for as long as I can remember. Every birthday I had I always wanted a lemon cake, but no one else in my family likes it. Oh well...

Actually, this bread is really fun to make.

Lemon Tea Bread

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Dash of salt 2x
1/2 cup milk

Glaze:
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup powder sugar (might need more)

Mix butter and sugar. Add eggs and lemon peel, beat well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to mixture with milk. Transfer to 2 quick bread pans that are well greased. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean at 350 degrees. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans and place on a wire rack. Make the glaze and drizzle over warm bread.

Labor Day?

Happy "Labor Day" to you all. If that is what you're suppose to say. I have never understood this quote "holiday". Just look at the name, does it make any sense? Didn't think so.

Created in 1882, The Central Labor Union of New York City (Note: that this is a Union )  wanted a day off for the working man.  

I think a lot of people use this day in the real sense. My family always saw this day as one more day to work, not a day off. I say my family because when I was little I hated working.  I still do sometimes.

Well, have a good day no matter if you get the day off or if you have to a trench to China.

If you're China than you're lucky. :)

TeenPact!!

Awesome-Tasting Food!

I think the pink in this salad is so pretty! This salad is also known as "Applesauce Jello", so you might have heard of it before. It also tastes really, really good. Applesauce salad goes with about anything and you can eat it by itself.

Applesauce Salad

2 cups boiling water
1 envelope gelatin
1 quart applesauce
1 package strawberry jello
1/2 cup cold water

Dissolve jello in hot water. Dissolve gelatin in cold water and add to jello. Add applesauce. Chill until firm. Eat quickly before your little brother sees you and wants some. :)

BlackTop

 Last Friday some of my family and I went to the BlackTop Nationals car show that's in town. Or was...in town. It's over now.

 I'd never been to one of these before, so, it was all new for me. The evening was really nice and the weather was perfect. You know, the type that makes you want to be outside.

At these types of events you seen the oddest cars and bikes. We saw a bike that was shaped to look like a dragon. By that time it was too dark and I didn't get a good picture of it.

I don't really care for the company FORD, but I do like nice, sweet, old and new cars. Needless to say, this show was full of them. Even though I don't like Ford, the GT Mustang is still one of my favorite cars. As you would know if you've looked at this blog before.

And here we have a Mach 1. This car is sweet.

Now this one was just awesome. Only, it had one problem...

...which was there were too many people around it. :) 

This is what you would call a "kit car". Looks pretty nice though.

 I also like this nice Shelby. The Shelby looks a lot like the Mustang.

  This was my favorite until I saw the next one...

My Chevy Camaro!!! And look IT'S GREEN!!!

I know I called it "my" but wouldn't that be awesome to have?

I really wanted to drive this one. I didn't see the owner around and 

I knew he wouldn't let me even if I asked.

 

 So, I have to put this picture on for good measure. Because I just realized I hadn't put any old cars on here. The yellow is pretty.

I thought this golf-cart is the cutest little thing. The owner was driving it around. Even though it is made for big people, it still looks funny.

Hopefully you like cars (like I do) but if you don't that's just too bad. Sorry to bore you, but then again not really. I'm done now, so you don't have to see anymore. :)

Lately...

The weather is terribly hot here and I'm sick of it.   I can't wait for fall.

It's too bad Kansas doesn't get any rain from the hurricane.

When the leaves change color, it is my favorite time of year. You can feel (and hear) the wind blowing through the leaves. I just want to spend all my time outside in that type of weather.

 

Maybe this year I can't wait for fall because I get to go out East in October.

Anyway, lately, I've been having fun playing around with this...

My Memories Suite 2 is a scrapbook software that I'm becoming addicted too. Well, maybe it's not that bad. You see, I got an email the other day from My Memories asking me to do a giveaway with this software. I first get to have fun creating layouts and cards to see how it works. So, make sure you stick around for this giveaway. It will be here in a couple of weeks.

Yesterday, I got my music for the Wichita Youth Symphony. I guess I decided I didn't have enough already to do this school year and got this on top of it. But, I like music and want to learn more about playing with people. Btw, they need one more flute. Anybody want to play? :)

This afternoon we ate lunch at the neighbor's (they also go to our church) with about 6 other families. Then some of us came over to our house to ride horses. Man! its way to hot for riding at 3 o'clock.

Tonight, we're going to watch a new movie, but my Dad had to go somewhere. We decided to be nice and wait on him. In the meantime Addy stuck in Fireproof. For as many times as I've watched it, I still find it interesting.  Especially the parts with Wayne.

 That guy is great. I can't wait for Courageous to come out. He isn't in Courageous that I know of.

Is anyone going to see it on the 30th? I'm thinking about it. 

Well, I better get myself busy...
